'Hygenia3000' at True Estate
I was recently approached by True Estate Gallery to guest curate a group show. Directed by artists Elvis Richardson, Beau Emmett and Julie Davies, the space is a concept incubator for practices dealing with concerns of the domestic, real estate and consumerism.
Combining 'Hygieia' the Greek and Roman deity of cleanliness and health with the arguably arbitrary numerical system of appliance naming, 'Hygenia3000' blends the classical with the consumer good. The exhibition explores the use of domestic appliance in contemporary sculpture through the lens of four emerging artists.
Exhibition featuring Megan Kennedy, Shui Kori, Nabilah Nordin and Nick Modrzewski at The Alderman, 134 Lygon St Brunswick East from Mar 3 - April 1, 2018.
